£40,000 - £50,000 + Many Benefits
It turns out that you can earn good money in a job you like, on projects anyone would be proud of, with a benefits package that actually gives some benefit. You can progress, you can have all the project and RIBA stage variety you went into the job for.
You can do all of this in an Architectural practice at a time that too many are going to developers and contractors to earn better money and get the status and progression that you, as an Architect deserve after all of those years qualifying and working in a trusted position in society.
Imagine true job security. Can you guarantee that where you are? In these uncertain times, most companies have rumours of redundancy flying around. Dispense with that drama by joining a practice with 25 and 15-year schemes with construction values in the Billions. This is in addition to the usual range of £5m - £50m schemes.
You might guess this might also mean you'll get some variety. Every RIBA Stage, different sectors, different projects. Not to mention the awards, the dozens of buildings across the UK that are now conserved or recognised for their genius. One project might be a £1bn restoration job, the next a big transport scheme, the next student living or Commercial or Residential. The list goes on. It's safe to say you won't get bored or feel like your not in amongst the UK's best projects.
All of the above won't look too bad at all on the CV. Neither will the company. There probably isn't a CV in the land that wouldn't be enhanced by this company and these projects. Just breathing this companies name will put your salary up by £5k - £10k in the future.
This is all academic anyway. People rarely, if ever leave. Why would you? You're earning well above the average practice pay for a qualified Architect, and Senior Architects will earn £55k - £60k. This number slips to more like £40k - £45k in most companies. You'll get to that level too with a few years of service and a couple of projects under your belt.
You can stop dreaming about the following benefits:
5% Pension Contribution
Profit Share Annually which can equal up to £5000 at your level.
Loans to make your train tickets cheaper by buying in bulk.
Private Medical Insurance
Long term sickness insurance
Level 2 BIM certified practice and training
25 days holiday
On top of all of this is mentorship. You'll not just get one mentor, the company itself is set up to ensure your mentorship. Personalised training, the best possible range of CPD, training on any and every software or technology platform, experience in exciting one-off building materials. Where you want to improve? What are you most interested in? That is where your professional development will focus.
Hours not working for you? Need to move them around short or long term to fit in with family life or the demanding cycling club schedule? No problem, post probation these discussions will take place.
