What does having a flat management structure mean? And what could it mean for you?
Wikipedia says: "A flat organization (also known as horizontal organization) has an organizational structure with few or no levels of middle management between staff and executives."
For you though, that means increased involvement in decision making than your current hierarchical practice. Don't like the way things are going as one of the people on the ground? Have your fair and equal say.
Largely eliminating middle management means; you are middle management. It means faster decision making, more empowerment for you, it usually means more benefits and a better work-life balance for you too. That boss you're not quite sure about won't be there. There's one person who reports to the Directors slightly more often than you would, other than that you'll manage most of your own time like a real grown up.
You'll be working in a well-resourced team. Those conversations where a package needs doing by the end of tomorrow, when in reality you need a week will be a thing of the past for you.
The developer works on very high-end residential developments, the spec is very high anyway, but it all ties into a hard-working, but supportive company that helps you get your work done the right way, in the right amount of time, so you can get off on time every day, or get the barbecue on early on a Friday.
Your hours will be flexible, to a good degree, your personal time will be your own, but the job retains its challenge. It's not about banging out house types and continuously churning out planning applications and feasibility. Each home is unique. Sometimes you'll work on traditional or classic new builds, sometimes it'll be all steel frames and attractive glazing systems or timber frames.
The company is 25 years old now. They're working with their own money, they offer you a safe long term workplace, free from redundancy worries in uncertain times.
They use Revit to a good level. You need to know the software to an intermediate level at least.
Don't make the mistake of thinking another job will come along just like this one. It won't for a while. Make sure you get in touch with us or make an application today.
